Apparently, there was once a time when you could buy a kit that would make a V olkswagen B eetle look like a Camaro. I’m not sure exactly why you would want to do such a thing, but they exist. Perhaps it’s for the person who can’t decide which Bumblebee they like best? Or for people who want to troll Camaro owners? Whatever the reason, they’re definitely interesting, and I imagine that the kinds of people who would own or build a thing like this must be very interesting as well.

Interestingly, there also appear to be plenty of shorty versions of these, which look like giant ‘70s go-karts.

Step 1) Buy one of these beetles.

Step 2) Put a second flat-4 in the front and power the front wheels

Step 3) Put a baja bug suspension on it

Step 4) Enjoy your flat-8, AWD camaro Group B version.

Apparently there is a double post. Please enjoy this baja bug pic instead of a double comment.

Point of order!

The chrome bumper 70-73 Camaro didn’t have T-tops!

I would absolutely build, own, and drive of those.

One change I’d have to make tho is that there seems to be no opening hood. I’d have to fix that as there would actually be a pretty big frunk under that Camaro hood.

The icing on the cake tho would be a SBC 350 hanging off the back.

These appear to not have doors. I think the Camaro had doors, iirc.

Reminds me of the smart car body kits. I don’t know if this was real or vaporware.

That is AWESOME.  10/10 would daily drive. But there would definitely be a Mustang Ecoboost in that thing, just to complete the heresy...

I'll have to do a little research on that one.

I think at least a few of them have hoods, though for all I know they could’ve been added by the builder. An SBC out back would definitely be awesome as well :)

This sounds exactly like the kind of absurd, crazy build that I fantasize about regularly and would probably attempt if I had the time/skills/money. One question: How exactly would you get the power from the front-mounted flat four to the front wheels? It sounds like it would be tricky without a bunch of custom parts. I suppose if all else fails, you could just flip the engine in the back to face forwards and flip the rear differential upside-down to compensate, then connect the front and rear engines with a driveshaft and just accept that it’ll be rwd.

Pretty sure it’s vaporware, but I so want it to be real.

I am currently restoring the orange looking one in the last photo on the article. It’s an interesting car. If you’d like to talk to the owner/get more pictures of one let me know.

The beetle was rwd rear engine. This car keeps the same configuration. Although the frame is shortened 6 inches from the standard bug length.
